This gallery contains photos from the Garrapata State Park, part of the Big Sur park system, just below Monterey, California. This is quite a beautiful park with rolling hills and a stream running through a wonderful Redwood forest. There are no park rangers, and the trail is not well marked or maintained. If you go, please be careful. In July 2009 I lost my footing on the trail, slid down a hill about 40 feet and broke both my legs. No cell phone service meant it was about 6 hours before I could be rescued, carried out of the woods and transported to the hospital...
